Katie Miller
Hi my name is Katie Miller, thank you for taking the time to visit my biography page. First, I would like to let you know, justice starts today! I live, breath, eat, and strongly believe that every injury accident victim deserves justice. I spend every waking moment fighting for just that, to get my clients the justice they deserve under the law! Having said that, it is nice to meet you. I grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah where my parents taught me very important values, integrity, how to work hard and compassion for others. I knew at a young age that I wanted to be a lawyer, a lawyer that went to court and helped people, a lawyer that would win against powerful odds, a lawyer my parents would be proud to visit and read about in our local newspapers. I wanted to be a winner for my clients.
After graduating from high school, I was accepted to University of Utah where I graduated with honors with a degree in Communications. I then went on to attend law school, where I again graduated with honors. After graduation from law school I applied and was accepted to work at the prestigious law firm, PeytonBolin, where I helped homeowner/condo associations and the owners in legal disputes. While I learned much from that experience, I felt like something was missing. Eventually, I’d find the change I needed by shifting to personal injury law.
For me, personal injury isn’t just a practice area of law, it is personal! I graduated from law school in 2009 and after training in a few different practice areas of law, I thought I made a big mistake becoming a lawyer. Working in real estate law as a litigator I was frustrated and contemplating leaving the legal profession and accepting the loss of the enormous personal and financial investment I had made to earn my degree.
On January 19, 2016, my life changed forever. Driving home from court in my Honda Civic I fully stopped behind a citrus semi-truck and without any warning was violently rear ended by a Ford F-150 traveling roughly 50 mph. The force of the impact shoved my car underneath the back of the citrus truck in front of me crushing my car like an accordion stopping moments before the trailer did the unthinkable. The injuries sustained resulted in painful treatment and massive surgery to insert hardware to stabilize my spine. I was out of work for 13 months. As a 39-year-old with an 18-month-old baby my life was literally and figuratively turned upside down. This horrible event left me devastated, depressed and a shell of myself. The tremendous toll the accident took on my first responder husband and family was the darkest and most grueling time of my life.
This accident was my first injury claim and the insurance companies did not make anything easy. They attempted to blame my injuries on everything except the horrific accident, in spite of the fact that I rarely saw a doctor prior to. Their actions contributed to an abundance of my stress and in turn made the pain worse, something I thought they were there to alleviate. After living through how abysmal and unfair I was treated, I could not sit idly by and watch anyone go through the same horrible nightmare. My destiny appeared and a fire ignited inside me so powerful, I was determined to join the fight on behalf of the injured.
After the long and arduous road of surgery, physical therapy, and rehabilitation I switched my area of practice to personal injury and joined one of the largest personal injury firms in Central Florida. There I worked tirelessly for 7 years fighting ferociously for my clients. I quickly thrived and was in the top 10 producers year after year and by the end of 2023, I recovered over $45 million dollars for my clients.
Looking back on my journey now, I am extremely proud of turning such a dark and stressful life event into a bright and positive outcome not only for myself and my family but also for my clients. That fateful day in 2016 placed me on a path that brought me here. Helping injured people recover from an accident while forcing insurance companies to do the right thing and comply with the law is what I do best! I am the insurance companies’ worst nightmare since I understand their sinister actions personally and professionally. I am your biggest ally considering I thoroughly understand what you are going through…because I was you. I hopefully receive the honor of representing you!
